Have you Filled a Bucket Today Linky Party!

Mrs. Magee is having a great Linky Party at her blog, First Grade Brain.  I think this is a great idea!  Be sure to check out all the great ideas and resources that are coming through on her blog!

"Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" Hard cover               "Fill a Bucket" Soft cover
In addition to this book, there is another one geared for small children.  This really helps with my kinders and I read both of them.  This book also has a very simple song in the back to teach the children.

Our school has used the bucketfiller system for two years now.  We had the author come to our school and present to the kids and it was great!   All staff members have the t-shirt to wear on designated days.  In my classroom I use the idea from Beth Newingham's Blog.  She uses the shoe storage pockets and places a bucket in each pocket for each child.  Then, craft pom poms are used to fill the buckets as a visual.  She has many great photos to show how she uses them.  Due to being out of the classroom and everything is packed away, I do not have my own photos to share at this time.  She also has some printables.
As a school any staff member can turn in a slip to the office announcing a student showing bucketfilling behavior.  This is announced during am announcements.  Then, their name is placed on a die cut bucket to be hung in the hallway.  Also, these slips can be placed in a classroom bucket.  Each Friday, the teacher draws a name and sends to the office.  This one person is announced for each class and gets to choose a friend to sit with them at the Bucketfiller lunch table in the cafeteria.  The table has a bright green tablecloth with a bucketfiller centerpiece.  The bucketfiller gets a bucketfiller pencil and they and their friend get a special treat like an ice cream sandwich with their lunch.  THEY LOVE THIS!
This Linky Party is just wonderful.  I know I will have even more ideas to take to my school in the fall!

Rockabye Baby!

I found out about this great site through a blog and forgive me when I say that I cannot remember who posted about this!  It is a company that makes lullabies out of favorite rock bands!  I sure wish I had known about them when my own were little ones.  I decided to purchase the Bon Jovi one and will use it during quiet time.  My own kids, though a bit older than Kindergarten, enjoyed listening  to it when it arrived.   You can test out each song from each album to help you with your choices!

Do you have any of their cd's?  If so, which ones and what do you use it for in the classroom?

Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

So, it was comforting to know that I am not the only one obsessed with shopping for the classroom!  I will go to the store with every intention to accomplish my list and leave!  However it never fails that other things end up in the cart that will then be taken to the classroom!   Be sure to check out Ladybug's Teacher Files and her Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

I went to Target this week and found the items above at the Dollar Spot.  However, I do not think this Target has gotten all the goods that I have heard about yet like others.  What have you found lately for your room in the fall?  I will post later with my finds from a flea market and then the Dollar General!

Garage Sales Part 2

I know it has been awhile, but we have been quite busy soaking up the summer days now that the kids are out of school now too.  We just went camping and will then go the Chicago to visit my husband's sister and family.
I recently hit a few good garage sales and had to share my finds!  I get so excited over a great deal!
I fell in love with this lamp the moment I saw it!  Can you believe it was only 50 cents!!!

This is a table top shelf  that I thought was so cute and will be great in the classroom!  $2!

I already have a crate on wheels.  However, I am always using it for school, Sunday School and scrapbooking.  So, I figured for $5 another one would come in handy!

Be sure to check back soon on some more finds that I found at Target, a flea market and the Dollar General!  Also, hop on over to Ladybugs Teacher Files to check out her awesome Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

Ok, so those were my deals for a day and enough to make me happy!  Have a great night!

Summer Challenge for My Kids!

Ok, so I was surfing ALL of the wonderful blogs that I love and came across one with an answer to a question I was pondering for my own kids this summer.  I have been wanting to up my expectations of my two this summer with repsonsibilities around the house as well as keeping up with some academic review and of course reading!
I stumbled upon this post at 1+1+1=1.  She had a summer challenge for her son and it looks wonderful!  Certain tasks earns a certain amount of points.  Once 25 points are earned he gets to use his points to get a certain prize.  I like how she said that it is a way to show her child how we can work hard to earn something we would like to have or do.  Check out her site for her details!  Here are the details of our own Summer Challenge!  Below you will also see a picture of their tubs that we are stocking for their challenge.  The green bag is from our local library's summer reading program.  We have incorporated that into the challenge as well.  My poor kids still have two more days of school left!  However, they are excited about their Summer Challenge!  You will also see how they can combine their points to do something bigger together!
What are your thoughts?!  Any additionally ideas or experiences?
Please leave comment and share!

Music in Kindergarten

I LOVE to use so many different music resources to enhance the learning of my students!  Here are some of my favorites!
Heidi's sight word songs have changed the way I teach sight words!  My kids just love them and they stick!

Jack Harthmann has been awesome addition to my music and movement time as well as teaching concepts.

Of course Dr. Jean is also aswesome!

What do you like to use?  Do have other suggestions?  I would love to hear your ideas!
This summer my goal is to organize my songs so that I know what I have and remember to use them when I am teaching certain skills/themes?  How do you organize your music?

Family Vacation/Summer Camp Keepsake

Last summer, by two kiddos and I made these frames to help them remember the special times we had on our week long famly vacation.  I got this idea from Family Fun Magazine and it was simple to make with the kids!  They had fun collecting items while on vacation and then choosing their favorite pictures to use!
This idea could also work for Vacation Bible School or a Summer Camp!

Here is the link to get the directions!  Vacation Frame Craft

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my blog!  I have been so inspired by others and their wonderful blogs that I have decided to give it a try!  I know that I have a lot to learn when it comes to blogging and managing one!
I have hopes to share pictures of our learning activities and projects as well as sharing resources!
I have taught for 13 years and 9 have been in kindergarten.  I just love it!  I also am the director of our Sunday School program at our church and teach the 1st/2nd grade class.  I have two wonderful children.  My son is 8 and daughter is 6.  I am so excited to spend another great summer with them!
Today is my first day of summer, while my own children still have 6 days left....I work in a different district.
So, I am off to some garage sales!  I'll let you know if I find any goodies!
Thanks for visiting!
