October Fun!

We recently completed this FREE Write Around the Room activity. Here we had to search for words and match them with the rhyming pictures on our sheet.

Here we complete this FREE Ten Frame Write Around the Room activity.  They had to read the ten frames and record the matching number.

We have been hard at work on our writing!  Here we practiced our spacing with marshmallows!!

We have been practicing our place value skills in a variety of ways, such as using base 10 blocks.

In our interactive notebooks we practiced our double math facts with this FREEBIE.

We began using our interactive Reading Notebooks last week.  We started out by practicing our rhyming words and the sound of /or/.  These wonderful pages are from this wonderful Phonics Interactive Notebook.

We also continue to work on reading and building CVC words.

The class LOVED our new Pin It Center!  We used it practice our spelling words!  You can find these awesome activities from The Teeny Tiny Teacher.

The First Month of school....Long Post!

Wow!  It has been a LONG time since I last posted!  We had our first day of school on the day after Labor Day.  Since then, we have learned our routines and are doing pretty well with it!

To start out, here are some activities from our first week of school.

We began our week by working in our math journals.  This is from Reagan's September Math Journal.  I love this product!  Here we compared our seahorses to the one that is colored.  We had to decide if each one was the same size or different.

Below is the poem we learned about using our quiet feet and lips when we walk down the hallway to our other classes.

Another day, we worked in our math journals again by asking our friends what their favorite animal is.

Next, they graphed their data.

Finally, they compared their graphs with each other.

We learned a lot about our Daily 5 routines.  We practiced Reading to Ourselves and...

with someone.

FREE Readers Workshop from Reagan.

This past week we worked a lot with tens frames.  We practiced by using our names!  I cannot remember where I got this from.  If you may know, please let me know so that I can give credit!

This is how our milk experiment started out.

One of our Word Work activities was to practice sight words on our ipads.

During Working on Writing, we used our Writing Center to work on making lists.

We sure accomplished a lot during our first week!  I can't wait to see all that we can do during Week 2!

During Week 2 and 3, we were very busy learning our Daily 5 and Math Centers Routines.  Here is a glimpse at what we were up to!

We practiced our sight words on the ipads.

We used our made lists and cards at Work on Writing.

Counting On Game

A free One More/One Less Game by From the Pond.

More Math Journaling...

Tally Up Game

Ten Frames

Graphing

PALS Lessons for phonics review.

We learned about Real Reading with a reading salad!  We not only need to read the text, but we need to THINK about what we are reading.  This lesson and others are from Tanny McGregor's Comprehension Connections' book.

Weekly Sight Word Art Project from Babbling Abby!

Writer's Workshop is well under way!

GoNoodle is a great way to get our wiggles out!  Especially on those rainy days.

We have been having so much fun with all of the wonderful Mo Willems' books!  Below are the Piggie and Elephant Puppets that we made.  We used these during Read to Self and Read to Someone time.  The kids had a blast acting out these fun stories!

We also had a lot of fun with our apple activities!  We made apple turnovers!

We also participated in many apple science and math activities.  Each child brought home an Interactive Apple Notebooks last week.

During our Math Centers we have been working hard on learning how to add objects and write number sentences.

(We even were allowed to write on the tables!)

We also participated in two National projects.  First off is the Oreo Challenge hosted by Projects by Jen.  Student estimated how many Oreos they could stack before it toppled over!  They were then given two attempts.  What fun!

Next, was our Letter Exchange hosted by First Grade Found Me!  Our class made MICE for the letter M!  We then each mailed our "letters" to other schools across the country.  In return, we have been receiving the rest of the alphabet from other schools.  We will share all of our letters once they have all arrived!
