DIY Linky Parties!

Plumdoodles is having a Pinterest Linky Party! Also, Running With Glitter is having a Linky Party on our creations!  I recently pinned a filing cabinet picture onto my Pinterest page from Mrs. Lee's Kinder Kids!  She used Modge Podge.  I knew just what could use this special touch!

I decided to do this with my plastic drawer unit that will stay by our Morning Meeting/carpet area to hold all of our needed materials.  It was just white.  I really like how it came out!

Back To School Activities Linky Party!!

I am having so much fun seeing everyone's photos as they are preparing their classrooms for the new school year!  It makes me wish that I could get into my room!  However, it will be the 15th before I will be able to step foot into my room!  Our school year begins on the day after Labor Day each year.
I am anxious to hear about what everyone has planned to do with their students during those first few weeks of school.  I thought it would be fun for us to share our back to school crafts/activities! Although I do not have many things available to me from home to share, I was able to come up with a few to share.

Above is a picture of a craft that is similar to one that I have done in the past...but I am thinking of trying this one instead. This apple and the one I usually do involves tearing paper.  I really like to work those fine motor skills with these types of activities.
The other project that we do in those first days invlove the first letter of their name.  I give each child a large cut out of the first letter in their name.  Then, I provide foam sticker shapes.  They peel and stick the stickers to cover their letter.  It is a great fine motor activity while helping them to learn the first letter of their name!

Again, I will add more to this post soon!  So, please LINK UP BELOW and join the party!  I can't wait to see what everyone has to share!
TBA is also having an Ultimate Linky Party!  Be sure to stop by and see what other Linky Parties are going on in Blogland!

New Read Alouds for the Fall-Mrs. Parker's Linky Party!

Book Cover
Learning with Mrs. Parker is having a linky party for favorite new read aloud books for the beginning of the school year!  I have many that I have used for several years that have already been mentioned.  Another that is not new either, but a good one is Kevin Knows the Rules.  This book is written wonderfully and really explains the school rules well to children.  This book was recommended through Teacher.net a few years ago.  The illustrations are well done and has a poster that can be used in the classroom as well.
Click here for a link that has more information and teaching ideas for this great book!

Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes
Of course I am also looking forward to the release of the new Pete the Cat book later this month!

Have you Filled a Bucket Today Linky Party!

Mrs. Magee is having a great Linky Party at her blog, First Grade Brain.  I think this is a great idea!  Be sure to check out all the great ideas and resources that are coming through on her blog!

"Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" Hard cover               "Fill a Bucket" Soft cover
In addition to this book, there is another one geared for small children.  This really helps with my kinders and I read both of them.  This book also has a very simple song in the back to teach the children.

Our school has used the bucketfiller system for two years now.  We had the author come to our school and present to the kids and it was great!   All staff members have the t-shirt to wear on designated days.  In my classroom I use the idea from Beth Newingham's Blog.  She uses the shoe storage pockets and places a bucket in each pocket for each child.  Then, craft pom poms are used to fill the buckets as a visual.  She has many great photos to show how she uses them.  Due to being out of the classroom and everything is packed away, I do not have my own photos to share at this time.  She also has some printables.
As a school any staff member can turn in a slip to the office announcing a student showing bucketfilling behavior.  This is announced during am announcements.  Then, their name is placed on a die cut bucket to be hung in the hallway.  Also, these slips can be placed in a classroom bucket.  Each Friday, the teacher draws a name and sends to the office.  This one person is announced for each class and gets to choose a friend to sit with them at the Bucketfiller lunch table in the cafeteria.  The table has a bright green tablecloth with a bucketfiller centerpiece.  The bucketfiller gets a bucketfiller pencil and they and their friend get a special treat like an ice cream sandwich with their lunch.  THEY LOVE THIS!
This Linky Party is just wonderful.  I know I will have even more ideas to take to my school in the fall!

Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

So, it was comforting to know that I am not the only one obsessed with shopping for the classroom!  I will go to the store with every intention to accomplish my list and leave!  However it never fails that other things end up in the cart that will then be taken to the classroom!   Be sure to check out Ladybug's Teacher Files and her Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

I went to Target this week and found the items above at the Dollar Spot.  However, I do not think this Target has gotten all the goods that I have heard about yet like others.  What have you found lately for your room in the fall?  I will post later with my finds from a flea market and then the Dollar General!

Garage Sales Part 2

I know it has been awhile, but we have been quite busy soaking up the summer days now that the kids are out of school now too.  We just went camping and will then go the Chicago to visit my husband's sister and family.
I recently hit a few good garage sales and had to share my finds!  I get so excited over a great deal!
I fell in love with this lamp the moment I saw it!  Can you believe it was only 50 cents!!!

This is a table top shelf  that I thought was so cute and will be great in the classroom!  $2!

I already have a crate on wheels.  However, I am always using it for school, Sunday School and scrapbooking.  So, I figured for $5 another one would come in handy!

Be sure to check back soon on some more finds that I found at Target, a flea market and the Dollar General!  Also, hop on over to Ladybugs Teacher Files to check out her awesome Classroom Shopping Linky Party!

Ok, so those were my deals for a day and enough to make me happy!  Have a great night!
